Thank You Notes

In the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives, we sometimes forget the importance of the small things that can sometimes make a huge impact. One of these little things is the timeless tradition of writing a thank you note following an interview. We suggest to all of our candidates to write a thank you letter. Because every client varies, it is a good idea to ask your recruiter how you should follow-up with the interviewer to make sure they know you are grateful of their time and intrigued by the position. This shows the employer that you are not only conscientious, but enthused about becoming a member of their team! Below are a few suggestions that may help you formulate your next thank you.

Tips on sending a Thank You note or email

  • Be timely - Send the note within 48 hours of the interview
  • Set your self apart - Expand on things discussed in the interview. For example, provide a thought, book, internet link that discusses a solution to a possible problem or issue he/she indicated during the interview.
  • Offer – Celebrate, but also send a note expressing your grateful acceptance and enthusiasm about contributing to the team.
  • Turned down - Write a thank you note to HR and Manager and thank them for their time and consideration. Mention your continued interest, if appropriate, in future opportunities there. Follow up again one month later as you may have been their #2 candidate or they may have another similar opportunity arise.
